The ReUse District is a new initiative working to increase the appreciation and accessibility of reused materials in the 7th Ward, Bywater, Marigny, St. Claude, and St. Roch neighborhoods. Functioning much like an “arts district,” The ReUse District now has 21 members and is spearheaded by The Green Project, Habitat Restore, Marigny Green, Preservation Resource Center, Rebuilding Together New Orleans, and St. Claude Main Street. Reuse is the purest, most environmentally responsible form of recycling, and together we can create a greater awareness of its possibilities.
The ReUse District is hosting ReFest, an all-day kick-off event, on Saturday May 15th. ReFest will include workshops, a film screening, live music, and a pub crawl– all centered around reuse. For more information about The ReUse District and ReFest’s schedule, check out www.thereusedistrict.org or become a fan on Facebook.
